why i shoot.

I believe photos are so important in life's journey, I like to think forward to my children sharing their photo's with their children and I want future generations to see how we live, what we wear  and where we go and what we learned.
Just recently I went in search of a photo from my past work career in film ,  I didn't find the images I was looking for but I stumbled across a pile of images of family and friends that I took when I was in my early 20's I discovered that 8 people in those images had passed away , these photos became so much more precious  to me and valuable as each of these divine people had taught me lessons in my life that are not to be forgotten.
my grandfather - taught me to be a little cheeky and generous
my actor friend - taught me life is short and unexpected things happen but to love with all your heart
my Beverley and Janet  (two sisters) both passed from melanoma taught me to be  creative and even though motherhood takes up your time never forget the craft of using your hands to make beautiful things. Bev also taught me to be a good wife, with a great marriage and beautiful kids she showed me when can do it all but family first ,work second. Family is irreplaceable.
These are just a few things  these images remind me of.
Photos are more important than ever when somebody passes.
People in our lives shape who we are and what we become and photos remind us of the lessons they bring to the table.
I take photos of my clients to show their sole  the best way I know how and to tell their personal story for their family.
I have been shooting families and weddings for over seven years full time and pride myself on my originality of  work. I have the most fantastic clients who welcome me into their families and lives and I am honoured to walk a mile with them.
I have photographed births in all forms c-sections, right through  to water births on many occasions  and I have  been mapping the lives of many families over the past seven years,
I truly love what I do and I am honoured to have experiences  I have been blessed with throughout my life .
I am allowed to portray through the lens my own personal take on things.
Thank you for your time and interest in my work.
enjoy your journey.

Best Wishes
Julie Willis
